One aspect of English which non-native speakers struggle with is the correct usage of "do" and "make", that have no official “grammar rule” and which can vary based on the specific action or outcome. I’m afraid the only way to become familiar with which one is correct in each situation, is through seeing them in context and repeated usage. So, here's a list of some common business examples demonstrating the usage of "do" and "make":
"Do" in Business Context:
Do research: Conducting market research, for example.
Do a deal: Negotiating, finalizing, or closing a business agreement or contract.
Do business: Engaging in commercial activities or transactions.
Do the accounts: Managing financial records, bookkeeping, or accounting tasks.
Do an analysis: Performing data analysis, financial analysis, or risk assessment.
Do work: Engaging in general tasks or responsibilities related to a job or project.
Do your best: Putting in maximum effort or performing at the highest level possible.
Do due diligence: Checking the details of a potential deal or contract in depth.
"Make" in Business Context:
Make a decision: Taking action to choose from alternatives or options.
Make progress: Advancing or moving forward in a project, initiative, or goal.
Make a sale: Completing a transaction by selling a product or service.
Make adjustments: Modifying or adapting strategies, plans, or processes.
Make a plan: Developing a strategy, blueprint, or outline for achieving objectives.
Make improvements: Enhancing or refining products, services, or processes.
Make an investment: Allocating resources or capital into ventures or assets.
Make a recommendation: Offering suggestions or advice based on experience, expertise or analysis.
I hope you found that helpful, and feel free to contact me if you have questions with these or other examples!
